One half of Porin Povari to house gym Kuntokeskus Liikku

Press release 6.6.2023
Kuntokeskus Liikku will open its doors on Kuninkaankatu in the autumn.
Last year, DEAS Property Find I Ky, owned by Finnish investors, asked the residents of Pori for ideas on how to utilise the space on Kuninkaanlahdenkatu. Many of the answers had to do with sports, and now those wishes have been answered, as the space will be occupied by the Finnish gym franchise, Kuntokeskus Liikku, which already operates two locations in Pori – in Mikkola and Eteläväylä.
– We are excited about being able to open Liikku in such a great space, right next to the town centre. The location itself is excellent and easy to reach by car, as there is plenty of free parking right in front of the entrance. We are renovating the space during the summer, and will welcome old and new Liikku members to a comfortable and high quality facility in August or September, says Johanna Riihijärvi, CEO of Liikku.
Kuntokeskus Liikku will create both traffic and the right kind of energy in the area. Asset Manager Antti Saarinen from DEAS is very happy with the negotiations that led up to the decision.
– We’re very pleased to have found a suitable use for the space. About half of the property is still available, and this 1,000 m2 space is waiting for the right user. Through the agreement with Liikku, we are able to help create a vibrant and well functioning city centre in Pori. This agreement is good news to us and the city, as the current economic situation and its insecurities have stiffened the property market quite significantly, Saarinen describes.
Kuntokeskus Liikku is a Finnish-owned gym franchise which is experiencing strong growth across the country. In Pori, there are two Liikku gyms already, and one of them is moving to Porin Povari in August-September after operating in Mikkola for five years. The other Liikku gym operates at Eteläväylä 4. In the entire country, Liikku has a total of 40 gyms and over 50,000 members.
DEAS Property Find I Ky, DPFF which owns Porin Povari, is a property fund valued at approximately 260 million euros and owned by Finnish investors. Its largest shareholders are Keva, LähiTapiola, Ilmarinen and Church Pension Fund. DPFF was founded in 2005. It invests in commercial properties throughout Finland.
